Their answer, and a few other manufs answer, seems to be to add this ugly looking heatpipe structure to stuff. Settings include voltages, fan control and temperatures; it’s all just a click away. Some rather amusing “beast” references are plastered over the box but all of the relevant information is there for you to read about the board. All in all a very well organised box. On a more serious note, it’s good to see abit stacking up this board with all that an enthusiast needs.

All in all a very well organised box. Hardware Monitoring Avit temperatures, voltages and fan settings in real time and with zero CPU usage. Solid State Capacitors significantly reduce heat buildup and offer the best voltage regulation, thereby increasing performance while extending the product life, even under the most stressful conditions.
mwx This hardware thermal protection automatically shuts down your system when the CPU temperature reaches a certain threshold. Settings include voltages, fan control and temperatures; it’s all just a click away.

I think it works fine, even without the little fan made for the NB; on the other hand, an enthusiast board should give the user the option to remove the passive to add active fan cooling solutions. I think the i chipset is good but not the king, would really like to see the X or updated chipset that can support nVidia’s series gpu’s in SLI True x32 SLI graphics for all the future proof options you could ever need for high-end gaming and a further x8 bandwidth for physics rendering.

The high-tech fully digital PWM ensures the best voltage regulation resulting in stable power distribution and better overall performance. Delicately integrated to give you all the tweaks you could ever need. When we first had a chance to preview this board back a few months ago, we were very excited about the possibilities with claims that the board could reach around MHz FSB under the right conditions but now that we have a retail sample in our labs for testing, does it stand up to the hype?
While there are plenty of motherboards out there based on this chipset, we are really only interested in checking out boards that differ from the reference design as with these products the only difference is what is included inside the box.
The i’s are toasty little sods for sure, and it’s a pity that abit didn’t even provide some form of active cooling to try and address the problem. Subscribing to the OC3D newsletter will keep you up-to-date on the latest technology reviews, competitions and goings-on at Overclock3D.
